Testimonials

If you’re not already a member of the Chamber and you are still debating whether or not you should join, read on. As the saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding" and these messages received from Chamber members show exactly how businesses benefit from the products and services the Chamber provides.

'Just a short note to express my appreciation of the work that you and your colleagues in ngb2b carry out in organising the various networking events that take place.

I have attended other networking events of other Chambers of Commerce and none have been as professionally organised or as well attended as those run by ngb2b. No matter what the time of day your team are always helpful, cheerful and willing to assist in any way they can.

Like all good things, it takes time and personal effort to build a business network but thanks to the opportunities created by ngb2b.

I would have no hesitation in recommending any organisation joining ngb2b.'

'Christmas had just passed, the wine was flowing (yet again) and I had just had my photograph taken with Jonathan Davies and the Six Nations Cup. "What next?" I thought. Then entered Patrick Long, another photograph and a mission to sell ngb2b. Now, I am Mr. Cynical himself, especially given the fact that my past experiences with various Chambers of Commerce have been far from fruitful. However, Patrick presented me with some common sense and beneficial ideas for our business, A One Training.

I say "our" business because my business partner Tracey Smith (who is also a confirmed cynic) was Patrick’s next hurdle. One meeting later, Tracey was convinced and A One Training joined ngb2b.

We firmly believe that when the talking is over, the walking begins – and walk we did. Business has been gained from the breakfast meetings and through the Chamber’s annual Five Counties Exhibition. We have also given business to fellow members, so it goes without saying that the opportunity to network has been invaluable.

This short screed is basically to show support to Patrick and his team for the support they have shown to our business. Tracey and I are STILL cynical, but ngb2b have only our praise – thank you all. Joining ngb2b was just "A One" for us!'

'Having over 30 years experience in running a business, I have belonged to and been in touch with many organisations claiming to “help” or “benefit my business”. Most of these organisations were dominated by large companies or by the exigencies and demands of targets set by government or government agencies. All of us can think of too many examples where those purporting to help seem to live on a different planet, speak a different language and never actually do anything really useful for our business.

It was with much trepidation and arm-twisting that I joined ngb2b. My experience led me to wonder why I should join yet another organisation dominated by the thinking and needs of large companies which would probably treat me, being a micro-business, as if I was half-witted and did not know what was good for me and which would probably never do anything which might really help my business.

For once in my life, I was delighted to be proved wrong. ngb2b not only has a majority of members who are SMEs, but staff and a support network who listen to members, behave in a very business-like manner (they always ring you back when they say they will!), and are actually really helpful.

Having worked for most of my life with organisations – including a government advisory committee at one time – all of whom said they wanted to help small businesses, but none of which seemed to have much understanding of life in the real small business world, I was quite unprepared to find in ngb2b an organisation which gave precedence to the real needs of we small business people.

Those of us who run micro-business know how difficult it can be to find the information we need, when we need it. ngb2b has been very helpful here too. If they can’t answer the question themselves, they know a man who can and usually pretty fast. Often just talking to someone can help solve problems, or at least get them into proper perspective, and ngb2b through the attitudes of their staff and through events such as the b2b Breakfasts, provide those of us “at the coal face” with a friendly ear, or with the opportunity to meet others like ourselves. I am not alone – there are other people out there with the same problems, frustrations, hopes and expectations. There are also other people running small businesses who know what its like, who can help me solve problems – through their experience, knowledge, ideas and obviously their products and services.

Forming friends and alliances with other businesses in the area has been of invaluable help to me and my business. It has both reassured me and expanded my horizons, both intellectually and business wise.

Thank you so much for all of your help and support.'
